Ambitious, humble and friendly- These distinct qualities define a true Taurean masterpiece. The beautiful, Harsha Parmanand was born in Guyana on April 25, 1996. At the tender age of nine, she migrated to Nevis, which she now calls her home. Harsha is the oldest of both her mother and father’s children. She was an alumna of the Elizabeth Pemberton Primary School, Charlestown Secondary School and the Nevis Sixth form College where she obtained her Associate Degree in Accounting. Harsha is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting at the University of the West Indies Open Campus. She not only aspires to be an Accountant but, also a motivational speaker. Although this combination may seem a bit unorthodox, Harsha’s aspirations stem from her love for accounting, her passion for public speaking and motivating others.

Harsha had an inclination for the world of pageantry at a very early age. Unfortunately, she was not able to pursue that interest until during high school. Her opportunity came when she had the chance to enter the first ever Mr. and Miss CSS House Pageant in 2012. She was delighted and overwhelmed that her artistic identity had been exposed and that the doors had been opened for her to explore her journey in the world of pageantry. She then journeyed to the Miss Culture Queen Pageant 2015, her failure to place in this pageant did not deter her spirit, instead she regrouped, re-evaluated and reentered, placing 1st runner up in the Miss Culture Queen Pageant 2019.

Her positive outlook on life allows her to see the best in others and to help them to see the best in themselves. It is no surprise that her motto is “I DON’T LOSE, I WIN OR I LEARN!” This motto is of particular importance to her because she has seen how people can allow their circumstances to overwhelm and discourage them. It is this passion for people that has fueled her desire to promote the platform: The Integration of Non-Nationals into the Local Society where she hopes to encourage her peers to never treat others as outcasts, regardless of their color, class nor creed. Harsha believes that awareness through personal development can improve one’s emotional intelligence which results in making better decisions in life. Your decisions do not just affect you, but it also impacts the people around you.

In her down time, Harsha enjoys learning new skills and DIYs, taking naps, singing in the shower, hiking, going to the gym, painting, listening to music, watching Netflix, making healthy meals and socializing.

Through participation in this year’s National Carnival Queen Pageant 2021, Harsha not only hopes to surprise and entertain the audience with her personality, beauty and intelligence but also wishes to encourage persons to self-reflect, as this gives way for growth.

Knowing your true value can lead to a higher personal achievement through self-development. It starts with YOU, so make a difference!
