Meet Mikhalia Stephens

Do unto others as you would have others do unto you, a lifelong motto instilled that has now become a quote to live by. A quote that has premised my entire life by my wonderful parents. Born on March 30th, 1997, I came with a raging light ready to shine and illuminate. As a young girl growing up, I instantly gravitated to the will, strength and overcoming spirit of my mother, till this day she reigns supreme and untouched as not just my cheerleader but my inspiration as well. Daily trying my best to match her amazing character and qualities I enlisted at a young age into the Girls Guide that assisted in sharpening the edges of my character through selflessness and community work. Till this day I am very appreciative of the discipline I obtained from the Girls Guide, so much so that I continue to assist in ensuring the young ladies after me are able to learn and mold as much as I have using this program. Even as a past student of the Washington Archibald High School, there was never a day I did not attempt to broaden my outreach horizon while chasing my academic success which has now led me to pursuing my accounting degree at the University of the West Indies. Though scholastic excellence is very important to me, I have learnt to balance my many passions so that I can positively impact in all areas including my hobbies of dancing and singing. As my mother always says, “Hard work always brings success”.

It has always been one of my dreams to step foot on the pageant platform where I would be given the chance to elegantly showcase my beauty and structure, also presenting myself as not just your regular girl but one you can definitely be at awe with while being engulfed with my enthusiasm towards the love for modeling and fashion.

I, Mikhalia Stephens have finally come out to shine. I totally pride myself on being very intellectual, talented and most importantly, a respectful young lady with hopes to make a positive change in the world someday. Over the years, I have seen pageantry as a platform to showcase my strengths by being very much classy and at the same time sassy.

If I am rewarded the Sugar Mas 50th National Swimsuit Queen title, I have so many plans going forward in helping as many ladies as possible to boost their self-esteem, encourage mental health awareness and also to create more outlets for women to uplift other women. My aim would be to help them to know that there is beauty in the way a woman thinks, looks, speaks and most importantly the way she portrays herself in society. I want to be able to motivate many young ladies of self-dependency by providing counselling and also sharing the importance of therapy. As Michelle Obama once said, “there is no limit to what we women can accomplish” and I stand by that daily.
